Al-Quds, 13 Rabi’ul Awwal 1436/4 January 2015 (MINA) – Palestinian member of the Israeli Knesset Ahmad Tibi on Saturday joint hundreds of Palestinians marching toward the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem to mark the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Israeli media reported.

Tibi waved the Palestinian flag and called for an end to the Israeli occupation, according to the Israeli news site Ynet, Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“The procession sends a message of liberty and peace and a desire to shake free the burden of the occupation in order to gain a normal and free life,” Tibi said.

“The procession ended at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the crown jewel of Jerusalem, which will be the capital of Palestine.”

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound sees regular clashes between Palestinian worshipers and Israeli forces, who often restrict access to the holy site.

Al-Aqsa is located in East Jerusalem, part of the territories Israel occupied in 1967. Israel later annexed East Jerusalem in a move never recognized abroad. (T/P006/P3)
