Gaza, MINA – The head of Gaza’s new transition committee announced on Thursday that the Rafah border crossing with Egypt will reopen next week for two-way travel.
Ali Shaath, who leads the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, made the announcement during the signing ceremony for the Board of Peace charter.
Shaath described the crossing as “a lifeline and symbol of opportunity,” stating the reopening “signals that Gaza is no longer closed to the future.” He emphasized the committee’s responsibility to restore order, rebuild institutions, and create a future for Gazans based on “one authority, one law and one weapon,” stressing success depends on tangible improvements in daily life.
The announcement is part of a broader transition plan backed by the US. At the same ceremony, Jared Kushner, advisor to US President Donald Trump, presented a detailed “master plan” for Gaza’s reconstruction.

The plan envisions over $25 billion in investment, projecting more than 500,000 new jobs and a GDP over $10 billion by 2035. It includes proposals for over 100,000 housing units and hundreds of educational and medical facilities.
Kushner outlined that reconstruction investments are conditional on full demilitarization by a single civilian authority, with amnesty offered to those who disarm. He announced an upcoming conference in Washington to seek private sector contributions for the “amazing investment opportunities.”[]
