Paraguay Opens its Embassy in Occupied Jerusalem

Occupied Jerusalem, MINA – Paraguay on Monday opened its embassy in Jerusalem to become the second country that follows the US lead.

The US officially moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem last Monday, PIC reported.

On the same day of the US embassy opening ceremony, the Palestinian people in Gaza organized a massive peaceful demonstration along the eastern border fence. The Israeli occupation forces violently quelled the demonstration killing 65 Palestinians and injuring about 3,000.

The US president Donald Trump in December 2017 recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and unveiled his plan to move the US embassy in Israel to the holy city.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned Paraguay’s move and described it as a “flagrant aggression” against the Palestinian people and their rights, and a “blatant violation” of international law and UN resolutions.

The Ministry stressed that it will make every possible effort and take the necessary political, diplomatic and legal measures to ensure the prosecution of the countries that follow the US lead for their unjustified aggression on the Palestinian people.(R/R04/RS5)
