Gaza, MINA – Palestinian resistance factions marked 1,000 days since the start of Israel’s military campaign in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, calling for national unity, stronger resistance, and urgent international action to end the war, according to the Palestine Information Center.

In a joint statement, the factions described the conflict as an ongoing assault that has caused massive destruction and a deepening humanitarian crisis. They argued that Israel had failed to achieve its declared objectives, including forcibly displacing Gaza’s population and imposing new realities on the ground.

The groups reaffirmed what they described as the Palestinian people’s right to resist and called for intensified confrontations in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem, and Palestinian communities inside the 1948 territories in response to Israeli annexation plans and settlement expansion.

They also rejected any form of external administration over Gaza, insisting that governance of the enclave should remain an internal Palestinian matter.

The factions urged the immediate formation of a committee of technocrats to administer Gaza and called for a comprehensive national dialogue to restore Palestinian unity and rebuild national institutions.

They further appealed to Arab and Muslim countries to increase political pressure to stop the war, strengthen official and public support for the Palestinian cause, and reject normalization with Israel.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Government Media Office released updated figures on the humanitarian impact of the conflict, saying more than 73,000 Palestinians have been confirmed killed and brought to hospitals since the war began, while about 9,500 people remain missing beneath the rubble or in areas inaccessible to rescue teams.

The office said Israeli forces had used more than 223,000 tons of explosives during the campaign, leaving more than 90 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure damaged or destroyed.

According to the statement, more than 21,500 children and 12,500 women have been killed, while approximately 2,700 Palestinian families were completely wiped from the civil registry.

The office said Gaza’s healthcare system has nearly collapsed, with 38 hospitals no longer functioning and around 1,700 medical workers killed. More than 173,000 wounded Palestinians continue to face severe shortages of medical treatment, while around 22,000 patients have been unable to leave Gaza for specialized care.

It also reported more than 2.1 million cases of infectious diseases among nearly two million displaced Palestinians.

The continued closure of border crossings has worsened food insecurity, placing an estimated 650,000 children at risk of malnutrition. The statement added that more than 58,800 children have lost one or both parents during the war.

The education sector has also suffered extensive destruction, with all schools damaged, more than 620,000 students deprived of education, and over 20,000 students killed, according to the office.

In addition, more than 410,000 housing units have been damaged or destroyed, along with thousands of kilometers of electricity networks and 1,047 mosques. Gaza’s agricultural sector has contracted by 87 percent, while direct economic losses have exceeded $80 billion.

The Government Media Office called for the immediate reopening of border crossings, unrestricted delivery of humanitarian and medical assistance, and international accountability for Israel and countries supporting its military campaign. It also urged Arab and Muslim states to launch an emergency relief operation and a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza.[]
