Palestinian Civil Defense Offers Help to Put Down Fires in Israel

Ramallah, 25 Safar 1438/25 November 2016 (MINA) – The Palestinian civil defense (PCD) Thursday announced readiness to offer help to put down fires raging through several areas in Israel.

Director General of PCD Yousef Nassar told WAFA that PCD is ready to help in containing the fires by providing fire engines and firefighters to join international efforts.

He said that PCD has both the resources and capabilities to help in controling the situation.

“As civil defense, it is our humanitarian duty and message.”

Israeli police on Thursday ordered the evacuation of 12 neighborhoods in Haifa as result of wildfires that recently broke out in several parts of the country.

According to Israeli Channel 2, at least 60,000 people were evacuated from their houses in the northern Israeli city of Haifa.

Israeli police said that the fire raging around Haifa was ignited deliberately and simultaneously in at least five locations. (T/R07/R01)
