Palestine PM Thanks Turkey, Qatar for Electricity Aid

Ramallah, 17 Rabiul Akhir 1438/16 January 2017 (MINA) – Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah expressed his gratitude to Turkey and Qatar on Sunday for aid to help ease an electricity shortage in the occupied Gaza Strip, Anadolu Agency reported..

In a written statement, Hamdallah thanked the governments of both countries for their support to the Palestinian resistance on their own land.

Turkey will give 15 million liters of fuel to an energy board in Gaza to provide non-stop electricity in the city, the Gazan authority said on Saturday.

Hamdallah noted an agreement on the fuel supply would be signed in coming days.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s government also said it would provide $12 million to relieve the electricity crisis.

Gaza has been running generators in hospitals for a decade now. These generators, in any other country, would be used in case of emergency for a day … not for years,” said journalist and author Mohammed Omer. (T/RS05/RS01)
