OIC Deplores Somali Governor’s Murder

Al-Shabaab militants have shot dead a provincial governor and his brother in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. Mohamed Dahir Ali Elmi and his brother.

 

Jedah, MINA – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the killing of Central Somalia’s Galgadud Region Governor Mohamed Ali Elmi, and his brother by Al-Shaabab Group in Mogadishu on Friday.

OIC Secretary-General Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen denounced the murder as a “barbaric crime” that runs counter with the values of Islam., KUNA reported Sunday.

He offered his sincere condolences to the relatives of the victims and to the Government of Somalia.

The OIC chief reiterated his organization’s principled position against all forms of violent extremism and terrorism, while reaffirming the OIC’s solidarity with the new authorities in Somalia in their efforts to ensure stability and peace in the country. (T/RS5/RS1)
