KING RECIEVES INDONESIAN PRESIDENT’S SPECIAL ENVOY

Amman, 29 Jumadil Awwal 1436/20 Maret 2015 (MINA) – His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Wednesday the Indonesian president’s special envoy to the Middle East and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Alwi Shihab.

Shihab handed His Majesty the King an invitation from Indonesian president, Joko Widodo, to attend the celebrations on the tenth anniversary of the Asian- African strategic partnership and the sixtieth anniversary of Asian- African summit scheduled to be held in Jakarta next month, Ammon News quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

His Majesty stressed the importance of a collective pan-Arab and Islamic effort to confront terrorism and highlight the true values and moderation of Islam.

Shihab said his country is keen on boosting ties with the Kingdom in various spheres, appreciating His Majesty’s role in achieving security and stability in the Middle East.

Indonesia is undertaking a series of preparations for events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference, which are slated for April 19 to 24 in Jakarta and Bandung, an official said here on Thursday.

Indonesia Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Armanatha Nasir said that as of now, leaders of 17 countries including Pakistan, Cambodia, Malaysia and Afghanistan have confirmed to attend the events.

Indonesia has prepared historical places to be observed by senior officials and leaders of countries to commemorate the initiation of cooperation movement among countries in Asia and Africa in Indonesia’s city of Bandung in 1955, Nasir added.(T/P008/P4)
