Hebron, 01 Rabiul Awwal 1434/13 January 2013 (PressTV/MINA) – Israeli troops have killed a Palestinian on the border of the West Bank as tension rises over Tel Aviv’s plan to build a new illegal settlement on occupied Palestinian land.

Palestinian sources said the victim, identified as 21-year-old Odai Darwish from the village of Dura, was shot on Saturday at the apartheid fence south of al-Khalil (Hebron) as he tried to reach his work place.

It has been reported that Israel is preparing to use force to evict the activists from the camp, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the closure of roads leading to the site.

Nearly 500,000 Israelis live in more than 100 settlements built since the Israelis occupied the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in 1967.

The occupation is a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 242, and thus the international community regards all the Israeli settlements across the West Bank as illegal according to international law. (T/R-015/R-006)
