Israeli Settlers Continue Bulldozing Palestinian Land in Umm Safa for Settlement Outpost

Ramallah, MINA – Israeli settlers continued bulldozing Palestinian-owned land in the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, on Sunday morning, Wafa reports.

Local sources said settlers’ bulldozers were leveling Palestinian-owned land in the Wadi al-Zaytoun area, south of the village, with the stated aim of establishing a large colonial settlement outpost.

Umm Safa has been repeatedly targeted by Israeli settlers from settlements and outposts established on Palestinian-owned land in the area. The attacks have caused extensive property damage and restricted citizens’ access to their land.

The bulldozing of Palestinian land in Umm Safa is part of an ongoing surge in settler violence and land confiscation across the occupied West Bank, which has intensified since October 2023.

According to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, settlers carried out 647 attacks across the West Bank in September alone, killing three Palestinians.

The establishment of settlement outposts on Palestinian-owned land is a key mechanism for expanding Israeli control over the West Bank and undermining the prospects for a viable Palestinian state.

Outposts are often established without official Israeli government approval but are subsequently legalized retroactively, a practice that has accelerated under the current Israeli government.

Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, have documented how settler attacks and land confiscation often occur with the support or acquiescence of Israeli forces, creating a climate of impunity that encourages further violations.

The international community has repeatedly condemned settlement expansion and called on Israel to halt it, but such calls have largely been ignored.[]
