ISRAELI FORCES DETAIN PALESTINIAN AT NABLUS CHECKPOINT

Nablus, 10 Rajab 1436/29 April 2015 (MINA)- Israeli forces detained a Palestinian youth from the Chavi Shomron checkpoint west of Nablus on Tuesday and confiscated a student’s schoolbag during clashes in the Beita village.

Israeli forces detained Aman Hussein Tamim Hardan, 27, from Jenin while he was at the Chavi Shomron checkpoint, Palestinian security sources said,  Maan News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

An Israeli army spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The sources said that clashes erupted in the Beita village between Israeli forces and several school students after soldiers raided the village; Israeli forces confiscated the schoolbag of Muhammad Sabea Hamayel, a 9th-grader.

No injuries were reported.

According to the sources, Israeli forces deployed near Yitma town in southern Nablus confiscated the ID card of Abd al-Rahman Abd al-Muti Jamil Snubar.

Israeli forces also raided the Bizzariya village in western Nablus and searched the house of a national security officer, Shawqi Abd al-Jabbar Salim, and of his father Abd al-Jabbar and brother Samed.

Soldiers destroyed the doors of the houses and confiscated three laptops and a hard disk.

Separately, Israeli forces detained a Palestinian youth from the Beit Rima town in the Ramallah and al-Bireh district while he was working in Israel.

The youth was identified as Suhaib Muin Ahmad al-Alem, 23. He was taken to Ofer jail near Ramallah.

The Israeli authorities had previously raided al-Alem’s home on April 14 and detained his younger brother Muin.

Israeli police earlier detained a youth during clashes in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem late Monday.

Sources told Ma’an that clashes erupted in the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood between Israeli forces deployed at the entrance of the neighborhood and Palestinian youths.

Israeli forces fired stun grenades and rubber-coated steel bullets and detained an unidentified youth.

Clashes also erupted in the al-Suwwana neighborhood, al-Tur village and neighborhoods of the Old City of Jerusalem.

No injuries were reported in those clashes.  (T/P010/R04)
