Tel Aviv, MINA – Israel has informed the United States that it rejects a 15-point “roadmap” proposed as part of international efforts to reach an agreement on Gaza, according to Israel’s Channel 14.

The channel quoted an Israeli political source as saying that Tel Aviv had told Washington the document, drafted by Egypt and Hamas, was “unacceptable in its current form.” Israel also submitted reservations over several provisions, particularly those affecting the Israeli military’s freedom of operation, which Israeli officials view as a critical component of their ongoing security strategy.

According to the source, the only measure approved by the Israeli government was to grant immunity to a limited number of Moroccan and Ugandan soldiers who would serve as part of a planned international force upon its deployment to the Gaza Strip. This concession, however, was described as a minor exception to an otherwise complete rejection of the proposed framework.

The source added that Israel had informed the United States it would not retreat from its current “yellow line” and would continue carrying out operations against what it described as threats targeting its forces and citizens. This position underscores Israel’s determination to maintain military flexibility in Gaza, even as international mediators push for a comprehensive ceasefire and the implementation of the roadmap’s second phase.

The development comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to advance the Gaza peace plan, with Egypt, Qatar, and other regional actors working to bridge the gaps between the parties.

However, Israel’s rejection of the roadmap in its current form represents a significant setback to these efforts, raising questions about the viability of a negotiated settlement in the near term.[]
