Tel Aviv, MINA – Israel is maintaining its prohibition on international journalists entering the Gaza Strip independently, despite the current ceasefire. The restriction prevents foreign media from verifying humanitarian conditions on the ground.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court in Jerusalem held another hearing regarding a petition from the Foreign Press Association (FPA), which seeks to allow reporters access to the besieged territory without being embedded with the Israeli military. The court granted the government a further postponement to present its arguments.

This delay marks the ninth time the court has postponed a decision since the petition was first filed in September 2024. The government now has until December 21 to submit its written response.

In a statement, the FPA described the repeated delays as “utterly absurd,” expressing outrage and disappointment that the court has allowed the situation to continue. The ongoing blockade means foreign media cannot independently report on the unprecedented devastation in Gaza resulting from the prolonged conflict.[]
