Gaza, MINA – All border crossings in and out of the Gaza Strip were shut down on Saturday, effectively cutting off the flow of humanitarian aid and halting medical evacuations for critically ill patients, as Israeli and US forces launched large-scale military attacks on Iran, PIC reports.
The Israeli occupation government announced the closure of all crossings with Gaza in an official statement. This measure includes the Rafah crossing on Gaza’s southern border with Egypt, which had only been reopened in early February for the first time in months, allowing a limited number of Palestinians, including patients requiring urgent medical treatment to pass through.
The closure deepens the humanitarian crisis in the Strip, where nearly all of the over two million residents have been displaced by Israel’s relentless war and are almost entirely dependent on international aid for survival.
Humanitarian organizations have consistently reported severe obstacles to their operations. In mid-February, the UN confirmed that its teams in Gaza continued to face Israeli restrictions when attempting to deliver lifesaving supplies, with several critical missions being denied. A February report from Human Rights Watch further detailed how these ongoing restrictions have led to persistent shortages of medicines, food, fuel, and clean water within the enclave.

The sealing of the borders coincided with a new wave of violence on the ground Sunday morning. The Israeli occupation army carried out a series of attacks across the Gaza Strip, including airstrikes and artillery shelling.
Media sources reported that artillery shelling targeted the areas of ash-Shakoush and al-Mawasi in Rafah, located in southern Gaza. Another artillery attack was reported in the eastern part of Gaza City.
In the south, Israeli tanks opened fire with machine guns towards areas east of Khan Yunis, while Israeli warplanes conducted two separate airstrikes on the eastern fringes of the same city.[]
