Gaza, MINA – Israeli officials canceled coordination for evacuating a third group of patients and injured people from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah land crossing, postponing their scheduled departure on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Anadolu Agency reported.
Spokesman Raed Al-Nems told Anadolu that the World Health Organization informed them of the cancellation without providing reasons.
He said the Red Crescent’s teams were fully prepared to evacuate patients from Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis, but the last-minute cancellation prevented the operation.
The society is awaiting the resumption of coordination in hopes that the evacuation can proceed on Thursday, given the dire humanitarian and health conditions patients face inside Gaza.

Official estimates indicate around 22,000 wounded and sick people in Gaza seek to leave for medical treatment abroad, as the healthcare sector has collapsed due to Israel’s war.
Israel reopened the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing on Monday in a limited manner under strict restrictions. The crossing has been under Israeli occupation since May 2024.
According to Egyptian and Israeli media, some 50 Palestinians were scheduled to cross daily into Gaza and a similar number into Egypt, including patients and companions, but this has not been realized.
Since Monday’s reopening, 52 Palestinians have entered Gaza and 60 have departed through the crossing.

Semi-official Palestinian data show around 80,000 Palestinians have registered to return to Gaza, reflecting their determination to reject displacement and uphold their right of return despite widespread destruction.
Israel has stated that only Palestinians from Gaza who left after the war began would be allowed to return. Testimonies from returnees, including the elderly and children, indicate they faced harassment and harsh Israeli military interrogation at the crossing.
Israel was supposed to reopen the crossing during the first phase of a ceasefire agreement effective October 10, 2025, but reneged on its commitment.[]
