Tehran, MINA – The Iranian government has affirmed its continued commitment to the path of diplomacy to ease tensions with the United States, even as the chances of reaching a peaceful resolution remain very slim.
This stance comes amid escalating military hostilities between the two countries in recent weeks, Press TV reported on Monday.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran has not closed the door on negotiations as long as they are conducted on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and without pressure.
According to the ministry, the current chance of reaching a peace deal is estimated at only about 10 percent, yet Iran still views diplomacy as the best way to prevent a wider conflict.

The statement came after the United States expanded its military operations against a number of targets in Iran, which it claimed were linked to defense infrastructure.
On the other hand, Tehran considers the attacks a violation of international law and has affirmed its right to respond to any action that threatens its national sovereignty.
Nevertheless, Iran emphasized that diplomatic efforts are still underway through several mediator countries. Regional states, including Oman and Qatar, are reported to be keeping indirect communication channels open between Tehran and Washington to prevent the conflict from escalating into an open war that could disrupt stability in the Middle East.
The tensions between the two countries have also drawn international concern due to their potential impact on the security of shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil distribution routes.
