Indonesian Artist Marissa Haque Supports Boycott Starbucks Coffee Shop

Jakarta, 11 Shawal 1438/5 July 2017 (MINA) –  Support for the proposed international coffee brand boycott in Indonesia for its pro-LBGT stance continues to emerge. Now, the politician of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Marissa Grace Haque or commonly called Marissa Haque also spoke up and supported the proposal to boycott Starbucks.

Republika reported Marissa who claimed very fond of Greentea Latte from Starbucks initially very surprised by the statement of Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz who supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.. Moreover, when Schultz impressed to press his ideology by asking those who disagreed with LGBT to leave Starbucks.

Marissa who used to be active in the world of entertainment also claimed to have been familiar with LGBT behavior. Because many of the co-workers, college friends, who like the same sex. But for him, it will not be able to disturb the principle of life she held so far.

“As a Muslim, of course I hold on to the Koran and Hadith. So, I refuse same marriage, Marissa said.

Previously, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz openly showed his support for same marriages and LGBT. Moreover, Schultz let Starbucks shareholders who refused it to sell their stake in Starbucks.

Responding to the Schultz’s statement, Indonesian Muhammadiyah high officials Anwar Abbas proposed the boycotts on Starbucks coffee shop in Indonesia. The proposal came because he was worried, Schultz made Starbucks not just a place to do business, but to spread ideology to all Starbucks employees, including in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Fadli Zon stated if Starbucks is boycotted, it will have a good impact to local entrepreneurs coffee business.

“Starbucks, is not belong to Indonesian. If it is boycotted is will be good and profitable for Indonesian coffee business, “said Fadli. (P2/RS5)
