Indonesia Implements 0 percent Preference Rates for Palestinian Dates

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Minister of Trade, Enggartiasto Lukita with the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al Shun paid a courtesy call to Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla on Thursday night.

They discussed with the topic of implementation of preferential 0% tariffs on Palestinian dates and olive oil products by the Government of Indonesia.

According to Instagram official written statement, the implementation of tariffs for the two Palestinian products has been in run since February 21, 2019.

The meeting at the Vice-Presidential Office was followed by a Joint Press Statement by the Indonesian Minister of Trade, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia.

The implementation of tariff elimination is a form of concrete support from the Indonesia Government to Palestinians in the economic field.

As the next step, Indonesia and Palestine agreed to expand trade cooperation between the two countries through the establishment of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).

With this implementation, Indonesia’s support for Palestine has increased and includes many sectors such as politics, education, health and internationally, among others at the United Nations. (T/Sj/P2)
