Indian PM Greets Muslim Community on Beginning of Ramadan

New Delhi, 03 Ramadan 1437/08 June 2016 (MINA) – India  Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday greeted the Muslim community on the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, called Ramazan in India.

“As the holy month of Ramzan commences, I convey my greetings to the Muslim community,” Modi was quoted by Xinhua as saying in a statement.

“May Ramzan deepen the bond of brotherhood and the spirit of harmony in our society,” he said.

The Muslim holy month of Ramadan began after the sighting of the new moon on Monday evening.

Predominated by Hindus, India is also home to the world’s second-largest concentration of Muslims, after Indonesia. (T/R07/RO1)
