INDIA CONTRIBUTES $1 MILLION TO UNRWA PROJECTS

        Ramallah, 16 Muharram 1434/29 November 2012 (WAFA/MINA) – India contributed on Thursday US $ 1 million for UNRWA’s Projects for the year 2012-13, according to a press release by representative office of India in Ramallah.

        During a brief ceremony at Jerusalem, Representative of India to Palestine, B.S. Mubarak expressed appreciation for the work of UNRWA and commended UNRWA’s work in providing humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian refugees.

        He expressed happiness that the contribution coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

        Mubarak also mentioned that till the day when a mutually acceptable peace is in position, it is incumbent upon all to support UNRWA, as the primary source of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian refugees.

        He said that India will continue to do all within its capacities to assist Palestine in its endeavors in capacity building.

        UNRWA provides aid to the refugees living in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, as well as those in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It is the only agency dedicated to helping refugees from a specific region or conflict. (F.R./T/R10/R-006)
