Jakarta, MINA – Hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the United States Embassy in Jakarta on Saturday to demonstrate against the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation authorities, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, according to Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
The rally, organized by the Aqsa Working Group (AWG), was attended by various community elements, religious leaders, and humanitarian activists who have consistently focused on the Palestinian issue.
Protesters carried various banners and posters demanding that Muslim access to Al-Aqsa Mosque be immediately reopened.
In their speeches, orators condemned Israel’s policy of continuing to restrict and even close Muslim access to worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan.
They deemed this action a serious violation of religious freedom and human rights.
Demonstrators also called on the international community, particularly the United States as Israel’s main ally, to cease support for policies deemed oppressive to the Palestinian people.
The action coordinator from Aqsa Working Group, Wali Al Jabbar, stated that Al-Aqsa Mosque is one of Islam’s holy sites that should have its sanctity preserved and be open to Muslim worshippers from around the world, especially during Ramadan which holds great significance.
In addition to speeches, the crowd held a collective prayer and delivered a statement of position condemning Israeli actions and calling on Muslims worldwide to increase solidarity and support for the Palestinian people.
