Gaza, MINA – The Hamas Movement on Friday criticized the complete silence of the Board of Peace (BoP) and its executive director, Nikolay Mladenov, over recent Israeli government statements about taking control of 70 percent of the Gaza Strip and pressing ahead with plans to displace Palestinians, according to the Palestinian Information Center.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the remarks amounted to a clear violation of the plan to end the war and the announced understandings regarding Gaza. He said the failure to condemn Israel’s expansionist policies and forced displacement plans raised serious questions about whether the mediating parties were committed to forcing Israel to honor its obligations and stop its repeated violations.
Qassem called on Arab and friendly states represented in the Board to issue a clear position on Israel’s threats and repeated breaches of the ceasefire agreement. He also urged them to take practical steps to pressure Israel to halt its aggressive policies and plans to impose new realities on the ground in Gaza.[]
