Gaza City, 6 Muharam 1435/10 November 2013 (MINA) – Youssef Rizqa, political advisor to Palestinian Prime Minister, considered uncovering Arafat’s killers ‘a crime against Palestinian people’.

Rizqa suggested in a press release the formation of an international or a popular committee to investigate the killing of the late Palestinian President, provided that it carries out this task uninfluenced by Israeli pressure.

Rizqa ruled out that the Palestinian Authority will open an investigation to uncover Arafat’s killers, “because the Israeli entity will not allow that, as it is one of the main suspects,” Al Ray reported as monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).

Israel is responsible for Arafat’s death

The Palestinian Government in the Gaza Strip demanded to reveal the results of the investigation regarding the death of the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. It also demanded the international law to look forward to this issue and to bring the killers into justice, the government spokeswoman Isra al-Modallal said on Tuesday.

She added that the Palestinian government believes that Israeli occupation is behind the killing of Arafat.

Al-Modallal denounced the international silence regarding the death of Arafat wondering how come he was killed in 2004 while the investigations only took place in 2013,” Why all this recklessness ?” she asked; the Palestinian people waited for a long time to know the truth about what happened to their president.

Al-Modallal  sent a message of support to Arafat’s widow  as she was the only person who is seeking for the truth of the death of her husband.

Suha Arafat said on Wednesday, after receiving the results of Swiss forensic tests on her husband’s corpse, that the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat was poisoned to death in 2004 with radioactive polonium.

A report by Swiss scientists said the results of tests on Arafat’s remains “moderately support the proposition that the death was the consequence of poisoning with polonium-210”.

The tests demonstrated unexpectedly high levels of polonium and the report said polonium levels in bones and soft tissues were up to 18 times higher than the normal limit.
