FORMER GAZAN HEALTH MINISTER PASSES AWAY
Gaza, 26 Sha’ban 1435/24 June 2014 (MINA) – Palestine’s Former Health Minister in Gaza dr. Mufeed al-Mukhallalaati on Monday (23/6) passed away after a heart attack while in hospital care, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) correspondent in Gaza reported.
Earlier, the 59-years-old senior doctor was admitted to Hospital Europe in southern Gaza for suffering acute heart problem.
Together with thousands of people, four Indonesian volunteers who are currently escorting Indonesian hospital building in Gaza participated in prayer for the deceased in Palestine mosque, in the center of the city, after the noon prayer congregation and then accompanied to the cemetery of martyrs in the region of Redwan Sheikh.
Indonesian Mer-c Condolences
Dr. Mufeed al-Mukhallalati was a familiar figure for Indonesian volunteers in Gaza, because he was the person who assisted in the process of Indonesian hospital development plan building by international humanitarian organizations Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (Mer-C) when he served as Minister of Health a few years ago.
Mer-C expresses its condolences through its official facebook by saying, “May his acts of worship and good deeds be accepted by Allah SWT and be placed in a glorious place in jannah and may the bereaved family be given patience.”
On several occasions, al-Mukhallalati often expressed gratitude to the people of Indonesia who always stood with the Palestinian people in the struggle for its independence. The deceased was also grateful for the gift of the hospital of the Indonesian people for the Palestinian.
A short biography
Born in the city of Gaza in 1955, al-Mukhallalati graduated from elementary, middle and high schools in some local schools with great achievements before he started medical study at Cairo University in Egypt. After completing his degree in 1981, al-Mukhallalati successfully completed his master in the field of general surgery at the University Dublin Ireland.
In 2006 al-Mukhallalati founded the faculty of Medicine in The Islamic University of Gaza, and since then served as dean of the faculty. In 2012 he was elected as the Palestinian health minister until the formation of a unity government early June 2014.
While serving as Minister of Health, he left a lot of positive changes in the health sector in Gaza. al-Mukhallalati also known internationally as an active person who visited Arab countries and Europe on his office. (L/K01/K02/K03/P03/R2/E01)
