Ankara, 26 Rabi’ul Awwal 1437/6 January 2015 (MINA) – France’s defense minister on Tuesday praised cooperation with Turkey in tackling foreign extremists heading to Syria, a Turkish diplomatic source said.

Jean Yves Le Drian met Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to discuss Syria, Libya and other bilateral issues in Ankara, Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) reported, quoting Anadolu Agency.

The visit came as France remains on high alert following the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris that killed 130. Some of the attackers had previously spent time in Syria with Daesh before returning to Europe.

The source said they shared similar concerns about regional security threats. The ministers also discussed the rising tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.  (T/P010/R07)
