Al-Quds, MINA – Israeli occupation authorities have issued a six-month ban against Jerusalem activist Nafisa Khweis, barring her from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque as part of an escalating campaign of expulsion orders targeting Palestinian worshippers and activists, local sources reported Wednesday.
The ban against Khweis reflects a broader pattern of restrictions, with approximately 400 such orders issued in February alone preventing Palestinians from accessing Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem’s Old City. The measures also include travel bans targeting activists, journalists, and former detainees.
Jerusalem affairs expert Abdullah Marouf warned that the ongoing closure of Al-Aqsa, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, represents a deliberate “test phase” by Israeli forces to gauge their capacity to impose new realities on the ground.
Marouf stated that while the measures are presented as responses to current regional tensions, they are being implemented under that pretext to fundamentally alter the Mosque’s administrative and religious status.

He emphasized that Israel is seeking to establish itself as the sole authority over Al-Aqsa, systematically sidelining the role of the Islamic Waqf and diminishing Palestinian influence in Jerusalem.
Despite the intensifying restrictions, Palestinians continue to gather near the Mosque’s gates to perform prayers, demonstrating ongoing resistance to the measures. The bans come amid a broader Israeli crackdown in Occupied Jerusalem, including the continued closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque to Muslim worshippers now entering its 19th day.
The expulsion orders and access restrictions have drawn concern from Palestinian leaders and rights organizations, who view them as part of a systematic effort to erode the historical and legal status quo at the holy site, where Muslims have maintained a continuous presence for centuries.[]
