El-Sisi Affirms Egypt’s Efforts To Find Just Solution To Palestinian Cause

Cairo, 17 Syawwal 1438/11 Juli 2017 (MINA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas held talks here on Sunday, during which they reviewed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue and ways to revive the peace process.

During the talks, President el-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s firm stance and its relentless efforts to reach a just and comprehensive solution that guarantees the right of the Palestinians to establish their independent state on the borders of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital, IINA News reported.

He also reiterated that the Palestinian cause will always remain a top priority in the Egyptian foreign policy, and that reaching a solution to it is a key to restoring security and stability in the Middle East.

It will also contribute to creating the necessary environment for development and economic progress to meet the aspirations of the peoples and countries of the region.

Egypt’s Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Yousef said that Abbas briefed el-Sisi on the efforts being made by the Palestinian leadership to mobilize international support for its position on reaching a two-state solution in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative (API).

In this regard, President Abbas also reviewed the US efforts to revive the peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis, the spokesman added.(T/R04/P2)
