EGYPT’S BROTHERHOOD LEADER BADIE TRIAL TO SET FOR FEBRUARY

Cairo, 18 Rabi’ul Awwal 1435/20 January 2014 (MINA) – Tanta Court of Appeal has set the date February 1, 2014 for the trial of Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, leading figure Mohamed al-Beltagy and 46 other group members, including Safwat Hegazy, Osama Yassin, Mohamed Abdel Maksoud, Bassem Ouda, Abdel Rahman al-Barr, Abdallah Barakat and Mohsen Rady.

They are all accused of blocking the Cairo-Alexandria Delta Road and inciting violence that left two people dead and 30 others injured when group supporters resisted police forces, Egypt Independent  reported as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

A judicial source  claimed investigations were completed and prosecutors received reports from the Forensics Department and the National Security Agency about the incident.

They are also accused of joining a “terrorist group” calling for violence against state institutions, disrupting traffic, damaging public and private property, although  the organization or the Egypt’s pro-democracy coalition seeks to unite revolutionary efforts, rejecting ‘the ruinous coup’ and ‘murderous military rule’, before January 25, in a serious escalation of peaceful protest activities.

They call for continuing peacefull protest throughout Egypt, demanding the release of its legal president Mohamed Morsi as well as other activists and members of Muslim brotherhood who has been held in Jail after the bloody coup since July 3, 2013.

Cairo Appeal Court send another accusation to Morsi and 25 others on Sunday for  “insulting the judiciary,” the fourth allegation referred Morsi to another long trial in Egypt.

They’ve been accused of allegedly “influencing judicial authority while reviewing a lawsuit, insulting judges, affecting the public in favor of one party involved in a lawsuit against the other and publishing issues that could affect judges”.

 Not only Morsi, they accused Mohamed Saad al-Katatny, a former parliamentary speaker and other MPs such as: Gamal Gebreel, Essam Sultan, Mohamed al-Beltagy, Sobhy Saleh, Mohamed al-Omda, Mostafa al-Naggar, Hamdi al-Fakharany, Mahmoud al-Saqqa, Amr Hamzawy, Mamdouh Ismail.(T/P03/E1)
