JORDAN APPEALS FOR 2.4 BLN USD AID TO HOST SYRIAN REFUGEES

Amman, 7 Rabi’ul Awwal 15435/9 Januari 2014 (MINA) – Jordan on Thursday appealed for 2.4 bullion U.S. dollars in assistance to reduce pressure on several sectors in the country due to hosting about 600,000 Syrian refugees.

Jordan appealed for aid to reduce pressure on local communities where Syrian refugees live, Xinhua quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The appeal also seeks to support the government’s efforts for the years 2014-2016 and reduce pressure on key sectors such as education, water, energy, infrastructure, health and others, Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ibrahim Sief said in a statement Thursday.
