EGYPT OPENS RAFAH CROSSING FOR GAZA CRITICAL INJURIES

Gaza, 15 Ramadan 1435/13 Juli 2014 (MINA) – Egyptian authorities opened the Rafah crossing with Gaza Saturday morning (12/7) to allow entry of injured Gaza citizens into Egypt for medical treatment and to allow holders of Egyptian and foreign passports to leave the coastal enclave.
Officials in the Palestinian border and crossing department highlighted that the crossing was open in one direction only, Ma’an News Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“Thousands of special cases including students and patients were waiting in Egypt hoping the crossing would be open for them to return to Gaza,”said Official.

The crossing was opened Thursday and four buses carrying holders of Egyptian passports left for Egypt.

The Egyptian government closed it is border with Gaza on Friday (12/7) after opening the day for Palestinians wounded in the latest Israeli attack to seek treatment.

On Thursday (10/7) and then, only 11 Palestinians are able to cross Rafah when Egypt opened the crossing, said Interior Ministry spokesman Palestine, Iyad Al-Buzm.

To Saturday (12/7) afternoon local time, at least 121 Palestinians died in the Israeli massive offensive into the Gaza blockaded since 2007, with more than 924 others were injured and treated at a local hospital.(T/Nidiya/E01)
