Boyolali Installs CCTV and Online Ticket in Merbabu Mount

Boyolali, MINA – Merbabu Mount National Park Hall (BTNGMb) Boyolali Regency, Central Java,  has installed a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) on the climbing route of Merbabu. This is done to facilitate the monitoring of climbing activities.

“We install CCTV cameras at the Sabana 1 climbing post in three directions to be able to monitor directly the situation of climbing activities remotely in the BTNGMb Boyolali Office,” said Head of BTNGMb, Edy Sutiyarto, in Boyolali, Friday.

According to Edy Sutiyarto, with the installation of CCTV in Sabana Post, officers will be easier to monitor climbing activities or if there are problems with climbers in the region.

Three CCTV cameras installed in the tower in Sabana 1 Merbabu hiking trail in Boyolali, namely one leads to the top of Merbabu, to the campsite, and one to the bottom or to monitor the solar panels that are the source of electricity.

“This CCTV has already begun to operate. We hope that CCTV will be obtained by reports from climbers or observations of officers or volunteers who come directly to the location,” he said.

According to him, with the installation of CCTV cameras in Sabana 1 Post, there are now two points. Previous CCTV was in the Selo Resort Office area to monitor the activities at the entrance to the ascent of Mount Merbabu through Selo Boyolali.

He said CCTV cameras are only temporarily installed on the Selo hiking trail, Boyolali. However, his side will also install on other hiking routes such as climbing doors at Cunthel, Thekelan, Suwanting, and Wekas.

“We chose the Selo Boyolali hiking trail to be installed by CCTV cameras because visitors at that location were quite crowded. The route, there were several locations of land that were large enough for the climbers to camp,” he said.

In addition, BTNGMb will also apply for registration for visitors who will make the climb to the top of Merbabu by way of online tickets, but the system is still in the trial phase.

According to him, the purchase of tickets online is among others to facilitate the registration of climbing for visitors who will climb to the top of Merbabu Mount and facilitate the manager in monitoring climbers or limiting quota restrictions on each track. (T/Sj/RS5)
