BETHLEHEM PRISONER ENDS 4-MONTH HUNGER STRIKE

        Bethlehem,  29 Syawal 1434/5 September 2013 (MINA) – Palestinian prisoner Ayman Hamdan, 32 from the city of Bethlehem, on Wednesday ended a four month hunger strike after a deal with the Israeli prison administration, his family said.

       For his part, Daoud Hamdan captive Ayman’s brother told Ahrar Center for the Studies of prisoners and human rights that his brother suspended his hunger strike this morning, after the prison administration agreed to reduce his administrative detention term from six to four months. He will be released in December 22.

      Daoud added that his brother is still held in Asaph Harovih hospital where he is receiving treatment, as he suffers from serious health problems due to his long hunger strike, AL-QASSAM news agency quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) as reporting, Thursday

     Fouad Khuffash, director of Ahrar Center, said prisoner Ayman Hamdan, launched his open hunger strike in protest at his administrative detention which has been renewed more than once.

     Ayman has been held without charge in administrative detention since his arrest on August 22, 2012, and began a hunger strike on April 28.

     Khuffash stressed that thanks to their steps and strikes, the prisoners succeeded to make the Israeli authorities meet their demands.

Two More Prisoners End Hunger Strike

        Two prisoners held in administrative detention in Israel and who have been on hunger strike since May 23 protesting their detention without charge or trial, and a third prisoner on strike since June 12 ended Wednesday their strike, according to Jawad Boulus, attorney for the Palestinian Prisoner Club (PPC).

        Adel Hreibat and Ayman Itbeish, from Hebron, went on hunger strike to protest their administrative. Muhammad Itbeish also went on hunger strike a month later in solidarity with his brother Ayman.

        Boulus said all three prisoners who have been kept in hospitals inside Israel have suspended their strike after Hreibat and Ayman Itbeish have reached a deal with the military prosecutor not to renew their detention order after the completion of their current terms. (T/P012/E1)
