Ramallah, MINA – Palestine Prisoners Center for Studies (PPCS) states currently there are 40 Palestinian women detained in Israeli prisons.

Middle East Monitor from Felesteen.ps on Monday reported that the PPCS said in a statement that Israeli occupation forces arrested 10-15 Palestinian women every month. Detainees are interrogated, some are still in prison, while others are under house arrest.

PPCS spokesman Riyad Al-Ashqar said Israeli occupation forces stormed several areas in the West Bank last week. They arrested university professor Widad Al-Barghouthi (57 years) and his two sons from Ramallah.

Israeli occupation forces also invaded Al-Birah and Qalandia. They arrested students Samah Jaradat and Mais Abu-Ghosh.

Al-Ashqar said 27 female prisoners were sentenced. Meanwhile, others spend administrative periods or are still being interrogated like the mother of Palestinian fighter Ashraf Naalwa.

From those who arrested, 17 of them are mothers and five are students. In addition, Al-Ashqar revealed 10 female prisoners suffer from poor health conditions including Israa Jaabis. She suffered burns to more than 60 percent of his body and needed immediate surgery.

In closing her, PPCS called on international community to pressure Israel to comply with international laws and conventions, which are related to the protection of women. In addition, also requested that immediately intervene to save the lives of female prisoners. (T/Sj/P2)
