US CITIZEN NEED ACCURATE INFORMATION RELATED TO PALESTINIAN ISSUES

Jakarta, 13 Jumadil AWwal 1434/26 March 2013 (MINA) – An Indonesian Muslim Advisory Council in United States as well as Imam of Masjid Islamic Center in New York, Muhammad Shamsi Ali said that American citizen need a correct and accurate information related to Israeli colonialism in Palestine.

“The American today need a real media to correct the wrong perception about Palestine and Israel. They need an accurate information related to the actual conditions of the occupation in the land,” Ali told Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) in Jakarta, Sunday (24/3).

Ali explained that Islamic media should present to give a true and accurate information about the actual situation in Palestine. They need a balanced and fair coverage information from the both sides (Palestine and Israel).

Right now, there are many Americans as well as its government officials who still have a wrong perception in the struggles of Palestinian people and Israeli occupation over their actions.

“The majority of Americans still believe that the Israeli people who are persecuted because they are surrounded by Islamic countries in the Middle East such as Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran and Muslim surrounding countries. That is the main reason for them to help and give support to Israel, “said Ali.

Ali also said that for most Americans, Islam is still considered as the cause of chaos and confusion in any parts of the world that they are terrified by the presence of Islam in their neighborhood.

The such perception is a result of incorrect information presented by media in reporting the situation in Palestine as a Muslim country. Almost all mass media, such as newspapers, magazines, television, or online media in United States are under Israeli control. So, they always present information that defend on their interests.

“Actually, the fact is totally different. Israel has been seizing Palestinian land and evicting its residents from their homes. However, as reported by US media Israeli people are trying to get back of their land as a heritage from their ancestors who firstly seized by Palestinian people, “said the Imam in New York’s mosque who were born as Indonesian.

Ali added that New York today is ‘the second Tel Aviv’ in United States. There are so many slogans, banners and billboards supporting Israel and criticized Middle East Muslim countries. That’s why the US citizens are affected by the misleading information.

Ali is really support to the media that is preaching about Palestinian people and their struggle. It will be a counterweight information so that they take the right attitude in viewing Palestine and Israel based on the actual situation there.
