Abu Bakar Baasyir to be Released Next Week

Bogor, West Java, MINA – Indonesia President, Joko Widodo approves proposal to release a convicted terrorist, Abu Bakar Baasyir from Mount Sindur Correctional Institution, Bogor, West Java, next week.

“Baasyir asked for at least three days to pack up his belongings. After being released, Baasyir will return to Solo, Center Java and will stay in his son house, ” said Indonesian Lawyer Yusril Ihza Mahendra in his Facebook account, Friday.

“Abu Bakar Baasyir has been in Mount Sindur Correctional Institution for nine years of total of 15-year criminal case. It is time for Baasyir to release without burdensome conditions, “he said.

According to Yusril, Baasyir is now 81 years old and in deteriorating health conditions. Therefore, Yusril said in his conversation with President, he was asked to study, dialogue and meet Abu Bakar Baasyir on Mount Sindur.

“All the talks (Yusril) with Baasyir were reported to president . So he was convinced that there is enough reason to release Baasyir. President believes that Baasyir must be released because of humanitarian considerations, “he wrote further.

Baasyir expressed his gratitude to the presence of God for his release and thanked all those who have taken the initiative to liberate him.

“Yusril, I have known for a long time. He is a brave person, many are hostile him. But I know, he took the right path, “Baasyir said to the nurse who examined his aching legs.
