Abbas Lauds Lebanese Sacrifices for Palestinian Cause

President Mahmoud Abbas Meets Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

Beirut, 28 Jumadil Awwal 1438/25 February 2017 (MINA) – Lebanon has made huge sacrifices for the Palestinian cause and endured for long, KUNA quoted visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas as saying on Friday.

Speaking at a joint news conference with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Abbas said Palestinian people would not forget what Lebanon made for the sake of their cause.

Meetings with Lebanese officials discussed international and regional developments, and the joint Arab issues, as well as the Palestinian cause and unity, he said.

He noted that the officials stressed that Palestine’s cause is the central one of Arab people.

Meanwhile, Berri said that Palestine’s cause is the one which brings the region’s countries together.

He affirmed the importance of Arab coordination over the cause during the upcoming Arab summit due in Jordan and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union conference in Morocco.

“We hope for a Palestinian national unity to be achieved, so as to encourage other States to rally around Palestine,” Berri said.

Earlier in the day, Abbas met with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri. During the meeting, they held talks on international and regional situations, and developments in the occupied Palestinian territories as well as bilateral ties.

Abbas also met with Lebanese President Michel Aoun yesterday during the visit which concludes Saturday (tomorrow). (T/RS05/RS01)
