Calm returns in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp on the outskirts of the southern Lebanese city of Sidon,
Beirut, 25 Rabiul Awwal 1438/25 December 2016 (MINA) – The killing of Fatah Military Unit Commander Suleiman Abu Nimr occurred by accident, said Samir Abu Afsh, a senior official at the movement, on Saturday.

While Abu Nimr was defusing an explosive device, it exploded, killing him, Abu Afsh told KUNA in a statement today.
Clashes erupted after the incident but ended and calm returned to Ain Al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Sidon, south of Lebanon, he said.
Palestinian National Security Brigade Commander Subhi Abu Arab said that the killing of Abu Nimr occurred by accident, National News Agency (NNA) reported.
He added that the clashes that broke out following Abu Nimr’s death were due to the belief that he was targeted.

Meanwhile, the agency said earlier that Abu Al-Nimr was killed by an explosive device in the camp in Sidon without saying that the incident occurred accidentally. (T/RS05/RS01)
