West Bank, MINA – Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has claimed that the three administrative areas of the occupied West Bank are “owned by Israel.” This statement contradicts the arrangements set out in the Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
Citing Anadolu, under the 1995 Oslo II Accords, the West Bank was divided into Areas A, B, and C. Area A is under full Palestinian control, while Area B is under Palestinian civil control and Israeli security control. Area C, which comprises about 60% of the territory, is under full Israeli control.
“There is no difference between Areas A, B, and C. All this land is ours. This is our country,” Ben-Gvir told the Israeli right-wing Channel 14 television on Thursday.
Ben-Gvir also threatened to dissolve the Palestinian Authority and pushed for the relocation of Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip if he serves as defense minister. He also claimed that 60% of Palestinians want to “emigrate,” despite reports indicating otherwise. “I will devote time to this and manage the process continuously. Every week, I will hold discussions involving all relevant parties,” he said.

When asked how Israel could provide additional forces for the West Bank and Gaza, Ben-Gvir replied: “The way is very simple: the more you allow soldiers to shoot and use force, the fewer personnel you need.” “I will remove restrictions on our soldiers. Currently, police rules of engagement are much looser than military rules,” he added, highlighting the use of firearms by police against Palestinians.
Although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken about the transfer of Palestinians on several occasions, Ben-Gvir claimed the prime minister “does not want it enough” and blamed him for failing to advance such a policy.[]
