Al-Quds, MINA – Extremist Jewish rabbi Yehuda Glick was among scores of settlers who desecrated the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards under police protection on Thursday morning, the Palestinian Information Center reports.

According to Jerusalemite sources, 137 settlers, including Glick, entered the Mosque in different groups through its Maghariba Gate and toured its courtyards in the morning. Footage showed Glick and several settlers performing Talmudic prayers during their tours at the Mosque.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation police imposed movement and entry restrictions on Muslim worshipers at the Aqsa Mosque’s entrances and gates.

Yehuda Glick is a prominent far-right Israeli activist and former Knesset member known for his advocacy for Jewish prayer rights at the Aqsa Mosque compound.

He has been a central figure in the movement to alter the status quo at the site, which under longstanding arrangements permits Muslims sole prayer rights while non-Muslims may visit but not pray.

Glick has been banned from the compound at various times by Israeli authorities, but his participation in Thursday’s incursion underscores the increasing boldness of settlers and far-right activists in challenging the status quo.

The incursion is part of a broader pattern of daily settler violations at the Aqsa Mosque, which have intensified during the Jewish holiday season.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, a record 1,678 settlers entered the compound during Yom Kippur on Sunday and Monday, and daily incursions have continued since, with 91 settlers entering on Wednesday and 137 on Thursday.

The settlers have performed Talmudic prayers, received lectures from rabbis about the alleged temple mount, and conducted provocative tours of the courtyards.[]
