Washington, MINA – President Donald Trump has announced a temporary halt to all US military strikes against Iran, agreeing to a two-week ceasefire following direct discussions with Pakistani leadership.
The decision, made public Tuesday on Trump’s Truth Social platform, halts planned bombings and attacks while requiring Iran to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided ceasefire!” Trump wrote.
Earlier, the president had set an 8 p.m. Eastern Time deadline for Tehran to restore oil and gas flows through the strategic waterway, warning otherwise that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif played a key mediating role, urging both sides to observe a two-week truce to allow diplomacy to end the war conclusively.
Sharif announced early Wednesday that Iran, the US and their allies have agreed to an immediate ceasefire across all conflict zones, including Lebanon.
According to Trump, Washington received a 10-point proposal from Iran that “is a workable basis on which to negotiate.” He added that “almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to,” though two weeks are needed to finalize a comprehensive agreement.
Islamabad will host negotiations starting Friday. Sharif invited US and Iranian delegations to what he called the “Islamabad Talks” for further discussions aimed at settling all disputes.[]
