Ramallah, MINA – The Asra Media Office (AMO) has reported a dangerous escalation of repressive measures against Palestinian prisoners in Israel’s Ramon Prison, where harsh humanitarian conditions are worsening with the onset of winter.
In a statement on Saturday, the AMO stated that the prison administration carried out three consecutive crackdowns on December 14, 16, and 19, involving violent raids on prisoners’ cells and collective assaults, including beatings and abuse—against all detainees.
These operations took place amid ongoing severe isolation conditions, with no improvement in living circumstances. The AMO warned that prolonged solitary confinement now poses a growing threat to prisoners’ lives, while the prison administration continues to deny them basic daily necessities.
With temperatures falling, detainees are reportedly enduring extreme conditions due to a severe lack of heating and winter clothing. Each prisoner has only two blankets and a single jacket, insufficient for the cold while thermal undergarments are almost unavailable. The AMO cautioned that health conditions are deteriorating, particularly at night, compounded by what it called deliberate medical neglect and unmet basic needs.

The office described the treatment as systematic collective punishment and abuse, holding Israeli authorities fully responsible for the prisoners’ safety and well-being. It warned of grave consequences if isolation and repression policies continue, and called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene.
According to earlier data from the Palestinian Prisoner Society, approximately 10,800 Palestinian prisoners were held in Israeli jails as of early August, including 49 women and 450 children. These numbers do not include detainees held in Israeli military camps, which also hold prisoners from Lebanon and Syria.[]
