Doha, MINA – Egypt has called for the urgent deployment of an international stabilization force along Gaza’s “yellow line” to verify the fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The appeal was made by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty during a session at the Doha Forum 2025 on Saturday.
Minister Abdelatty stated that international monitors are critically needed because “one party, which is Israel, is every day violating the ceasefire.” He emphasized that Egypt advocates for a peacekeeping, not a peace-enforcing, mandate for such a force to help consolidate the truce. The proposed force would operate along the demarcation line that separates Israeli military zones from areas where Palestinian movement is permitted. Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to occupy over 50% of Gaza’s territory.
Linking security to a political solution, the top diplomat asserted that sustainable stability is impossible without a Palestinian state. “There is no solution or sustainable security and stability for Israel or for the Middle East without the Palestinian state… apart from that, all will be temporary solutions,” he said. He stressed that Gaza and the West Bank are an integral part of that future state and that empowering the Palestinian Authority in Gaza is essential for unity.
Abdelatty urgently appealed to the global community to “flood Gaza with all humanitarian and medical aid” ahead of the winter, highlighting the severe lack of shelter for a population devastated by conflict. He also took a firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, declaring that Egypt will not allow the Rafah crossing to be used “as a gate for displacement.” He noted that while the crossing remains open 24/7 from the Egyptian side, Israel continues to control and close the gate on the Gaza side.

The minister further described the situation in the occupied West Bank as “even worse than in Gaza,” citing daily attacks by settlers aimed at terrorizing civilians.
This proposal aligns with existing international frameworks, including UN Resolution 2803, which established provisions for an International Stabilization Force (ISF) and a transitional “Board of Peace” for Gaza. The current ceasefire, which began on October 10, has been marred by hundreds of alleged violations. According to Gaza authorities, 366 Palestinians have been killed since the deal took effect.[]
