7.4 Earthquake Hits Indonesian Islands, Java and Sumatera

Jakarta, MINA – An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hits the Indonesian Islands, southern Java and Sumatra. Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) immediately issued tsunami early warnings for a number of coastal areas.

Minanews.net from BMKG reports the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred on Friday night around 19:03:21 local time was in the area of 7.54 LS, 104.58 BT (147 KM Southwest of SUMUR-BANTEN), with an estimated depth of 10 KM.

Until this news was revealed there was no further information regarding the impact of the earthquake which was felt strong for several seconds in Jakarta. (L/Sj/P2)
