Caracas, MINA – Acting Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez has invited the United States government to collaborate on an “agenda of cooperation” following the capture and extradition of former President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, to the United States.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Rodríguez said, “We invite the US government to collaborate with us on an agenda of cooperation oriented towards shared development within the framework of international law to strengthen lasting community coexistence.” She emphasized the importance of “balanced and respectful international relations” based on “sovereign equality and non-interference.”
Addressing US President Donald Trump directly, Rodríguez added, “President Donald Trump, our peoples and our region deserve peace and dialogue, not war,” noting that this has consistently been Maduro’s stance and remains Venezuela’s position.
When asked about Rodríguez earlier on Sunday, President Trump stated that she is “cooperating” but warned that she would “face a situation probably worse than Maduro” if she fails to comply. Trump emphasized the need for “total access” to Venezuelan resources, including oil, to enable the rebuilding of the country.

Maduro and Flores arrived in New York on Saturday and are currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. They face US federal charges related to drug trafficking and alleged collaboration with designated terrorist organizations. Venezuelan officials have denied the accusations and called for the couple’s release.[]
