US CONCERNS ABOUT NUCLEAR IRAN MERE HYPE: ANALYST

New York, 21 Rabi’ul Akhir 1435/21 February 2014 (MINA)   A political analyst says the US’s allegations against Iran’s nuclear energy program are only hype and constitute part of Washington’s plot to prevent the progress of independent countries, Press TV reports.

In an interview with Press TV on Thursday, Sara Flounders, the co-director of the International Action Center, said concerns about Iran’s nuclear energy program were not legitimate, adding that every country in the world is entitled to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

She said that the US was angry at Iran because the Islamic Republic shattered the United States’ hegemony in the Middle East, Press TV quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Flounders dismissed the allegations that the Iranian nuclear energy program is a “threat,” and said, “This is all US hype, threats from Wall Street, because they want to stop the independent development of any and every country that is not under the thumb of Wall Street, the thumb of US corporate power,” she said.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, China, Russia, France and Britain – plus Germany started their latest talks on Iran’s nuclear energy program in Vienna on February 18. The discussions wrapped up on Thursday.

Iranian Foreign Minister and top nuclear negotiator Mohammad Javad Zarif described the talks as “fruitful and extensive,” saying the Vienna negotiations were “a good start for the difficult task” of reaching a final agreement.
