Ankara, MINA – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated on Friday that Ankara opposes any military intervention targeting Iran and supports a peaceful, internal resolution of the country’s issues by its own people.
Fidan made the remarks during a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Istanbul, Anadolu Agency reported.
“We have told our counterparts at every opportunity that we are against a military intervention targeting Iran,” Fidan said. “We hope that Iran’s internal issues will be resolved peacefully by the Iranian people without any external intervention.”
The statements come amid rising tensions between Tehran and Washington, following US President Donald Trump’s claims that a “massive armada” was moving toward Iran and calls for Tehran to negotiate.

Iranian officials warned that any US attack would receive a swift and comprehensive response while remaining open to talks under fair, balanced, and noncoercive terms.
Fidan emphasized that regional issues must be resolved with “regional ownership,” noting that Turkey’s foreign policy in the Middle East, Balkans, and South Caucasus is guided by stability, security, and cooperation.
He stressed that Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in Iran and extending condolences for lives lost during recent protests.[]
