Gaza, MINA – The foreign ministers of ten countries, including eight European nations, Canada, and Japan issued a joint statement on Tuesday expressing deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and calling on Israel to take immediate action.
In the statement, released by the UK Foreign Office, the ministers highlighted that the onset of winter has worsened suffering due to heavy rain and freezing temperatures, with around 1.3 million people in urgent need of shelter. They noted that over half of Gaza’s health facilities are only partially functional due to severe shortages of equipment and supplies, while the near-total collapse of sewage infrastructure exposes approximately 740,000 people to toxic flooding.
The ministers also emphasized that an estimated 1.6 million people in Gaza face extreme food insecurity, and humanitarian access remains heavily restricted despite a slight increase in aid deliveries since the ceasefire.
They urged Israel to allow international NGOs to operate sustainably and without obstruction, ensure that UN agencies, including UNRWA can continue providing essential services, and lift unreasonable restrictions on imports, particularly medical equipment and shelter materials.
