Khartoum, MINA – Sudanese demonstrators continued to protest for six days in front of army headquarters in Khartoum, opposing the military regime.

The excitement of citizens over the ouster of Omar Al-Bashir on Thursday was quickly gloomy when the demonstrators realized old regime through a military coup was fraud. Local media Capital News reported on Friday.

“Changes will not occur with the entire Bashir regime deceiving Sudanese civilians through military coups,” tweeted Alaa Salah, who has become an icon of the protest movement after a video of leading protesters was viral.

Citizens’ excitement began to turn into anger and insubordination, just hours after Defense Minister, Awad Mohammed Ibn Auf announced that Bashir had been overthrown by the army and the establishment of High Council of Armed Forces for two years.

Thousands of people have flooded the center of capital city of Khartoum since morning, cheered, waved flags and even kissed and hugged the army as they danced in armored vehicles.

However, after the army announcement, the celebration evaporated and the tone hardened.

“We will not leave, we will not leave. Just fall and that’s all, “several protesters in front of the army headquarters began shouting.

Sudanese army has so far not intervened in mass protests, but has continued to protect the demonstrators.

Demonstrators began rebuilding posts on several roads, which had been demolished after five nights of sit-in, which had never happened before.

The army also applies a night curfew in the country, which will start around 10:00 a.m. But when the night began to come, the masses persisted.

“This is a joke. Regime does not fall. This is the reproduction of same regime, ” said a demonstrator.

Meanwhile, the protest organizers told people not to leave the sit-ins even though the curfew was imposed.

“Ibn Ouf and Bashir are two sides of the same coin,” the demonstrator said.

“As youth and citizens, we see what happens, the government manipulates us,” he continued.

“We will not let the blood of our brothers disappear in vain. This is a new duplicate copy of the regime, “a demonstrator swore. (T/Sj/R04)
