Jakarta, MINA – Operations at several airports, including Soekarno-Hatta, which were previously affected by the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau, have resumed as of Tuesday at dawn.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi announced the reopening of Terminal 1 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport as of 00:01 WIB.
“As of September 8 at 00:01 WIB, Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta, and Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung are declared active again,” he said.
“Following that, Budiarto Curug Airport and Pondok Cabe Airport in Banten also reopened at 02:25 WIB.”

However, not all airports have resumed operations. Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung and Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport in Lampung are still awaiting further developments pending safety assessments.
The reopening came with several conditions. Airport authorities and airlines must inspect all aircraft fleets, and pilots and operational crew must be aware of restricted polygons, areas that remain off-limits due to detected volcanic ash.
The ash dispersal from Anak Krakatau’s eruption had impacted airspace and airport operations since Saturday (September 5) through Monday (September 7), leading to the temporary closure of eight airports: Soekarno-Hatta, Halim Perdanakusuma, Radin Inten II, Husein Sastranegara, Budiarto Curug, Pondok Cabe, Taufiq Kiemas, and Atung Bungsu. Atung Bungsu in Pagar Alam, South Sumatra, had already resumed normal operations as of Monday at 09:00 WIB.
Minister Dudy urged airlines to continue coordinating with airport operators, authorities, and relevant agencies to ensure safe and secure operations.[]
