Seven Indonesians Successfully Evacuated from Tortila Island

Caracas, MINA – Seven Indonesian Citizens was of the victims of Huricane Irma successfully evacuated from Tortila island, British Virgin Island (BVI).

The evacuation process was led by the Ambassador of Indonesia, Caracas, Venezuela, Mochammad Luthfie Witto’eng, according to the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s via twitter account, Sunday (16/9).

The evacuation aircraft arrived at Tortilla Island at 1 pm and returned to Caracas with 7 Indonesians at 15:00 local time, and will be repatriated to Jakarta on Tuesday (19/9).

Reported earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L.P. Marsudi ordered Indonesian Ambassador Caracas Mochammad Luthfie Witto’eng to evacuate 7 Indonesians affected by Hurricane Irma on Tortilla Island.

Due to incident, most of the infrastructures suffered severe damage. Since the storm, water supplies, electricity and other logistics have stopped completely. Meanwhile, the regular flight path is stopped.
